Winter Steelhead on The Stamp River start to arrive late December and early January as they mix in with the fall run which is already holding in the river.

This fall run of Steelhead has been good so far with probably close to 1000 fish in the upper Stamp River

Big runs of Chinook now transiting the Somass Stamp River system for the next few weeks. Fish On!

The bite is on as normal in Kyuquot Sound with daily catches coming in for all species. Chinook, Lings and Halibut. Not too many coho around yet but any moment!

Season is onto a great start with nice Chinook showing up already on West Coast Vancouver Island. Look for runs to continue to be present through the season now on West Coast Vancouver Island.

Stamp River Winter Steelhead fishing report.

Happy New Year from the Stamp Somass Sproat (SSS). The pre holiday rains brought some welcomed water into the systems and with that deluge also came a pulse of Winter Steelhead.

Early snow is always a signal that the spawning season for Chinook and Coho are nearly over and the legendary Steelhead hold reign in the system again feeding on the salmon eggs.

Chinook and Coho have spawned and the Fall Steelhead are now feeding on their eggs. This activity heats things up for Steelhead fishing now through December

The Stamp River continues to be reliable year after year. This season is no different. Good runs and stable weather

Salmon & Halibut Season is Here! May 16 2022. - We are now fishing Ucluelet for Chinook, Halibut and bottom fish and the fishing has been great!

Salmon season is almost here and we cant wait. In a few short weeks our team and guests will be enjoying the Wild west Coast for Chinook, Halibut, Ling Cod and more.

The winter season is underway with a some fish in the upper and lower system. Searun Cutthroat are also in the river now feeding on the Salmon Spawn. Check out our river guages and online booking system

These fish are now aggressively feeding on Chinook spawn in the upper river. There are also still some quality Coho Salmon in the mix as well. The Steelhead fishery is a release fishery for us but the retention of Coho is encouraged for these abundant Hatchery origin stocks.

The Chinook run has been epic so far this year and they are throughout the system. Coho are in the river now as well. We look forward to Steelhead soon.

Ucluelet trips have been great with really good Halibut fishing only 7 miles offshore and then nearshore and inshore Barclay Sound for Chinook. This is from a recent trip guided by Shaun Evans out of Ucluelet.

Kyuquot Sound Salmon and Halibut fishing is underway for summer 2020 and we have been doing great!

Vancouver Island Fishing Report for Ucluelet and Kyuquot. Salmon and Halibut season has started locally and we are now accepting reservations. Kyuquot operations open on July 1st with a great suite of regulations and opportunities available for this summer.

Our operations are readying for the summer and we can't wait! Although Covid19 is presently a barrier to serving you all today, our fishing Salmon and Halibut season is still several months away. We want to reassure you that we will be here when things get back to normal, even if its a new normal.

A slow start to the Winter Steelhead season with only a few winters encountered to date. Some late fall Steelhead in the mix as well. We hope to see a Winter push after this major rainfall event underway. This fish released by Rob Jones is simply a spectacular example of this beautiful species.

The bite is on with Chinook and Coho Salmon now throughout the entire Stamp River system.

Fishing is hot this summer with non stop action. Coho are inshore now as well in addition to the ongoing Chinook run. Lings and Hali's all on board!

Within minutes of our first trip out for the season here in Kyuquot it was obvious what a special season we are in for! Chinook along the surfline within our retention zones has been great fishing.

Reports from Barkley Sound this week have been good with Chinook in the teens showing up in the surfline area and inshore islands of Barkley Sound. Great Bear and the Can Bouy on the Bamfield side.

While there are some changes to Chinook fishing in Southern BC, we are very fortunate that the inside waters of Areas 23-27 remain open at normal limits. Ucluelet and Kyuquot will be the bright light on the BC coast this year.

We have had alot of variability in weather so far this winter with ups and downs weekly. The great snow pack in the mountains is vulnerable to a few days of warm weather and that retain moisture becomes liquid again and makes it way into the rivers and up the rivers go again! This past week was exactly that. We were still fishing but it did limit access in the lower river where waters were really high.

River is still very high but showing promise and clearing up in the upper sections and starting to improve in the lower, with the rate of drop it should be back in shape everywhere in a couple of days.

High Stream Advisory Warning still in Effect Stay away from rivers due to dangers with swift waters, flooding, unstable banks, debris and rising waters. The river has crested and is starting to drop. If temperatures stay low the river should be back in shape in no time!

Fingers crossed we get a good Winter run of Steelhead this year. On the heals of such a fantastic return of Fall run steelhead. These fish are genetically different and migrations vary. The Fall run would now all be in the upper river and the Winters just starting to come in. We suspect the Fall run success likely due to the lack of commercial net fisheries for sockeye where they often get intercepted.

The average return of Steelhead through the Stamp Falls counters to date are normally about 800 fish from June through October with highs over 2000 and lows around 600. This year we are told that over 3000 Steelhead have passed through the counters so far! Fishing has been excellent and seeing some reports and photos of big fish in the mix which indicates a good ocean survival

The Salmon moved into the system with the first low pressure system that hit coastal Vancouver Island in the beginning of the month. There has been a steady steam of fresh Chinook and Coho moving in daily. The quality of these fish is excellent and weather conditions have been ideal for ongoing migration.

11 trips into the season and wow what a great one so far! The Coho showed up in some nice numbers early this season along with some quality Chinook, Halibut and Ling Cod.

We are on trip 7 of the season at our flagship location of Kyuquot Sound. The fishing never disappoints and this season is no different. The catches have been good with limits or near limits being achieved on most trips. The size of Salmon have been increasing by the day and this beauty is an example of the 2nd tyee of the season for us.

Nice catches of Chinook and Halibut are happening on Vancouver Island's west coast right now. Fish are near shore so not running to far out to get them.

Ucluelet is now fishing and its producing some great catches in both quantity and quality! Been some nice fish in the high teens. With great conditions on so early in the season, its a good time to get your "Spring Fish Fix"!
